The province of Tehran, which is home to the country's capital and the center of political power, has received only one license.
Despite a blanket ban resulting from power shortages caused by lack of rain, Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Commerce has exempted several crypto mining farms across the country.
According to a report by the Financial Tribune on Wednesday, the ministry granted permission for 30 crypto mining farms to operate after the licenses were issued.

Six licenses have been granted in Semnan province, while Alborz province, which is located just outside the country's capital, received four. The provinces of Mazandaran, Azarbaijan Oriental, and Zanjan also received four licenses.
Tehran province, which is home to the country's capital and the center of political power, has received only one license for a mining operation there.
In May, the country's president, Hassan Rouhani, said cryptocurrency mining operations should be halted until September 22 due to the load it is putting on the national electricity grid due to the exceptionally hot summer.
Also in May, the Central Bank of Iran moved to ban the trade of certain cryptocurrencies considered mined outside the country to try to hinder capital flight outside its borders.
